Further Breakdown of Nursery Project

Part of Phase 2

  • Identify Relevant stakeholders in each Local Municipality, in this case, healers
  • Work with them to identify the space to formulate the nursery premises. This would be a central point which is easily accessible to all concerned
  • Draw up a database of all known healing herbs in that local municipality
  • Liaise with South African Biodiversity Institute on the known species of plants in that local municipality as we as getting a list of the endangered
  • Teach the local healers on how to sustainably harvest the medicinal plants
  • Plant all the herbs found and used in the area.
  • Create 10 green jobs for the young healers and women in the community who will water and take care of the plants
  • Invite Local school children to learn about growing plants and to assist in starting their own gardens in their schools or homes
  • Once the plants have grown, they will then be prepared in the proper so at to be sold to create income
  • Some of the plants will be replanted to replenish and rehabilitate the local biodiversity
  • The project will be ongoing as they will constantly be replanting
